F.S.U. Bill Duncan 5k Saturday April 10 Lakeland Fl
Another University race, but much better organized. It was at Florida Southern. It started on a side street going downhill for about 300 yards then you go around Lake Hollingsworth on the sidewalk. This is a nice run with a little ups and downs as you circle the lake. Mile markers were out and water at halfway. I think the hills got the better of him since we finished in 28:29 and 28:32. There about 90 runners. After finishing you go back up to the courtyard for the awards and refreshments. Cotton t shirts. My son won his first medal for placing in his age group. Enjoyed this race and did it again in 2011.

C.A.R.E. Autism 5k Saturday April 17 Lakewood Ranch Fl
Nice race starting in central shopping area of Lakewood Ranch. You go out onto Lakewood Ranch Blvd for a down and out and return back to the finish. Neat event starting and finishing running through the shops and cheered by friend and onlookers. Great after set up with fruits, bars, bagels, and much more. Ran this one as we were on our way back home on vacation so did not train. Finished in 28:42 and 28:44. He finished first in age group. Medals for the standard top 3. Cotton t shirts. There were 433 runners. Would consider doing again.

Desoto Parade 5k Saturday April 24 Bradenton Fl
This is one of the ones I have enjoyed the most and we did it again in 2011. It is in the evening around 6:30pm. You run the route of the Desoto Parade right before the parade starts so you are running wit hall teh crowds on both sides of the road. Not all of the spectators are nice, but allot do cheer you on. Very Festive indeed. You park at the finish and they bus you over to high school where the parade starts. You run around the football field once and out onto the streets. Mile markers and water at halfway. Mostly all flat except for a few small hills near the end. Best time yet in finishing at 26:57 and 26:58. He placed again and receieved a medal. There were 263 runners. Great spread at the finish and nice tech shirts. Would do again.


This is the last race that I ran along and paced him so the rest of the reviews will just reflect just my times.
